    Description

solid bronze antique yacht signal cannon by Naval Electric Co. Liberty St. New York USA.
This new style of signal saluting and yachting connon was strategically modeled after the US Navy Hotchkiss Naval deck cannon on pedistal, with its unique but simple sliding breechblock. It was probably the greatest achievement of Francis Grainger Hall the owner of the company who also held many other patents.
These were very popular during the Roaring Twenties even replacing the  Strong and Brown style Cannon,  according to his advertising. Take a look at the last photo which is on yacht Nenemoosha! A 1922 launched vessel built buy Alfred DuPont!..
This 45 inch barreled Cannon Chambers a large 2 gauge cartridge. And  stands 45 inches tall also. The neatest thing about this cannon is the Hotchkiss style sliding breech block,  to open it you rotate the handle 45 degrees then slide it firmly to the right when it is all the way open the automatic shell ejector mechanism pulls out the spent cartridge and throws it out into your other hand,  so you better be ready to catch it!  That is the s#@*!.
I have decided to professionally reproduce and include a copy of my original Naval Co early, 12-page catalog! Which very well may even be rarer than the cannon itself! It has the most incredible descriptions and sales tactic text you can ever imagine, great photographs even all the testimonials of the yachtsman that are currently using their cannons most dated 1901 to 1904, also in the back features the Hall improved breech-loading life-saving gun..
