    Whiting Manufacturing Co. of New York, NY traces its roots back to 1840 with the firm of Tifft & Whiting in North  Attleboro Massachusetts. After a series of partnership changes, the firm incorporated as the Whiting Manufacturing Company in 1866. The firm was a major manufacturer of both sterling holloware and sterling flatware. They were absorbed into Gorham in 1926.
